Former pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao suffered a setback in his preparation for his showdown with Brandon 'Bam Bam' Rios after sustaining a slight ankle injury while playing hoops last weekend.

Pacquiao has already started doing light conditioning drills for the Rios fight, one of which is playing basketball. Playing basketball has been part of Pacquiao's preparation for his previous fights, but that proved to be costly for him weeks before the arrival of Freddie Roach.

World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Juan Manul Marquez is reportedly interested in fighting Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios, instead of Manny Pacquiao, over whom he scored a crushing sixth-round knockout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas last Dec. 8.

Trainer Ignacio “Nacho” Beristain claims to have discussed the options with Marquez, with boxingscene.com reporting that both the Mexican and his Hall-of-Fame trainer are interested in facing a fighter like Rios, who has a record of 30-0-1, with 23 knockouts.

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Juan Manuel Marquez (55-6-1, 40KOs) knocked Manny Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38KOs) out cold in the sixth round of their fourth and likely final battle. Their first fight, in 2004, ended in a twelve round draw, with Pacquiao winning close controversial decisions in 2008 and 2011.

Marquez looked stronger, but Pacquiao was quicker and may have done enough to grab the first round. Pacquiao certainly grabbed the second with quicker, accurate punches.

WBO to award Champion of the Decade belt to winner of Pacquiao-Marquez fourth fight

WORLD Boxing Organization (WBO) President Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel will award a specially crafted belt designating the winner of the fourth fight between Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao and Mexican dynamite Juan Manuel Marquez as the WBO “Champion of the Decade.”

Valcarcel made the announcement on the boxing organization’s website, wboboxing.com. The coveted belt will be unveiled during the official weigh-in held one day before the fight.

Viloria stops Marquez to unify flyweight titles

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Adrien Broner stopped Antonio DeMarco in the eighth round to take the WBC lightweight championship Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall.

Broner (25-0, 21 KOs) dominated from the outset, punishing DeMarco (28-3-1, 21 KOs) until DeMarco's corner mercifully threw in the towel. Referee Benji Esteves stopped the fight at 1:49 of the round.

Froch retains title, stopping Mack in 3rd
