AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 Azkals vs. Lions Preview

BRIMMING with confidence, the Philippine Azkals will return to Rizal Memorial Stadium on Saturday, December 8, for the first leg of the semifinals of the AFF Suzuki Cup against the Singapore Lions.
It will mark the first time our Azkals will play at home in the semis, after we forfeited the right two years ago when tournament officials declared that the Rizal Memorial Stadium was below the standards set by FIFA and the organizers.

The Azkals started the tournament on a slow start, losing to host Thailand 1-2, before kicking in to high gear against Vietnam and Myanmar where the Azkals whitewashed 1-0 and 2-0 respectively. The team played superb defense in their last two games to earn the ticket into the next round.

Team manager Dan Palami has finally heaved big sigh of relief after Dennis Cagara and Angel Guirado were cleared by their mother clubs to play for the Philippine Azkals’ crucial home game against Singapore on Saturday in the AFF Suzuki Cup at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Palami said he received word on Tuesday night that Cagara and Guirado got green light from their clubs overseas to rejoin the Azkals for their clash with the Lions.

Road to the Suzuki Cup semis: Philippines
